An Obsession to be elected president?

Is there nothing John McCain will not do to become president? There was a time back in the 2000 election when I heard about John McCain for the first time, and I liked the way he didn't always follow his party on every piece of legislation. Then came Karl Rove, who managed to blow him out of the race by putting out fliers in South Carolina that he was the father of an illegitimate black child. Of course, this wasn't true. John and Cindy McCain adopted that child from a foreign country that Cindy McCain had visited, partly because she had some very special needs. She had a cleft palate and needed surgery. But, we all know what kind of person Karl Rove is, don't we? McCain has been called a maverick, by the press, and he was back then, but since that time, he has made up his mind that he will do anything it takes to become president. I believe it's an obsession. To make my point, McCain has been lying on almost every add he has run in his campaign against Barack Obama. He has flip-flopped on almost every issue to make his views more in line with the mainstream whenever it has been necessary. For instance, up until a week ago, when the big mess on wall street happened, McCain could be heard saying that he had always been a de-regulator, but all of a sudden, this week, he is saying he is a regulator, that he believes in more regulations for wall street to keep this from happening again. The man was a big endorser of the Gramm-Leech-Bliley act that caused this mess to happen, and now he says he is not a de-regulator anymore?
