The Party of No

Republicans in the Congress have truly become the party of "No." No we don't want to help create or save 3.5 million jobs, no we don't want to help save lives by lifting the ban on federal funding of Stem Cell Research, no to SCHIP expansion to help the nations kids with healthcare, no on gender pay equality and will probably be saying no to other progressive bills that come before the Congress. The leadership, Boehner, Mitchell, and Cantor are unified that this is the way to make themselves heard and get back some of the electorate they lost over the last two elections. I believe this is the worst strategy they could have come up with and consequently hope they continue it to their detriment.

Of course, in addition to following Rush Limbaugh off a cliff, the right wing of the Republican Party, has gone so far right wing, they have lost touch with the pulse of the people. This is essentially why they were thrown out of power. People like Karl Rove, Tony Perkins, and James Dobson, even ole Newt Gingrich is back to lead the party down the path of far right conservatism. Then they have people in the congress like Michelle Bachmann who is truly crazy, and this new McCarthy, Spencer Bachus said the other day, "Some of the men and women I work with in Congress are socialists." He claims to have a list of 17 names who are members of Congress that are socialists, but just like McCarthy; he won't show the names or tell anybody who they are, because the truth is they don't exist, except in his mind. Oh, and let's not forget the redneck governor of the State of Alaska, whom they trotted out to run for Vice President under McCain, Sarah Palin. Not only is she truly uneducated and doesn't know a thing about politics, she has more family problems than some inner city dysfunctional families can claim to have.
All of this, of course, adds up to Republicans staying in the minority for a good long time. As a Democrat, I am extremely happy with these developments.
