My First Post

Here is the first post of what I hope will be the start of many more. I started this blog with the intention of getting people more involved with the conversation that is required in a Representative Democracy such as we have in the United States. Thomas Jefferson, one of our founding fathers, had many things to say on what a Well Informed Citizenry means, here is one example:

"Whenever the people are well-informed, they can be trusted with their own government. Whenever things get so far wrong as to attract their notice, they may be relied on to set them to rights." --Thomas Jefferson to Richard Price, 1789. ME 7:253

It is my belief people in this country are no longer well informed. The corporate media has taken over the airwaves that belong to the people and this is where most people get their news. Therefore, the people may not be relied upon to "set them to rights" as Jefferson stated.

I hope to educate and inform people, through articles and discourse, so they can feel more involved in the governmental process that was set up in our Constitution.
